Your diet needs to include an abundance of fresh fruit and vegetables on a daily basis for you to remain healthy and full of energy. The consumption of organic and in season produce is best if you can afford. The key word is “abundance” and ensure that they are preferably of different colours from yellow, green , red, purple, orange etc so you get maximum protection and benefit from them.
Fruit and vegetables are a great source of both soluble and insoluble fibre which acts to keep our digestive systems in top working order. They are also a valuable source of potent antioxidants which help combat free radicals. You remember those nasty things called “free radicals,” they are the ones that damage us and tend to age us prematurely.
Fruit and vegetables also are packed full of vitamins and minerals which give as added protection from disease. They are in fact Nature’s Gift to us and all we need to do is eat and enjoy !
If you want a snack then instead of munching on some chocolate bar, biscuits, cake or crisps try eating for example a juicy peach, watermelon or an energy packed banana and then notice the difference in well being.
As far as fruit juices without their pulp go one needs to be careful here because they can play havoc with your blood sugar levels and tend to give you a quick buzz a then in a little while can leave you feeling flat. I suggest to my patients that it is wise to water the fruit juices down to avoid the roller coaster ride with fruit juices particularly those that have added sugar in them. Vegetable juices on the other hand are less likely to have this problem and are very cleansing to the system.
